‘Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid.’ Goethe said that. It’s not too late for you to become a person of substance, Russell.

Meet my favorite skirt. Skirt, meet C+C!
This is the most ethereal piece of clothing ever created. I stalked it one summer at the boutique where I worked until it went all the way down to 75% off… and I snatched it. I’ve worn it as a dress, as a skirt, with heels, with flip flops, with silk tops, and jean jackets. Suffices to say when I move to a new place, I happily note that I’ve got another handful of opportunities to wear it into the ground.
This outfit reminds me of the crazy mom from Laurel Canyon. The three layers of tulle are my favorite part: there’s an unfinished, ragged hemline that keeps it from looking like a flamenco skirt, with rough and asymmetrical elements that keep it edgy.
Coincidentally, while I’m noting how I have a clingy obsession with an article of clothing, Rob is watching Hoarders. I’m so entranced/disturbed, I’m finding it hard to focus. Have you seen this show? Where have I been? I thought Eli was tough to keep up with… this lady has goats chewing through her walls. [Repeats over in head: I am so lucky. I am so lucky.]
We had a stellar ski weekend! Great friends, beautiful weather, soul-quenching meals, and generous laughter. I went with every intention of actually skiing (first time since I was 12) but only ended up making seven 40-ft runs on a hill by the house next door. Rob would stand at the bottom of the gentle slope ready to catch me, then he’d put both hands square on my behind and shove me back up the hill to go again. I’m sad to report we had a misfire while uploading the pictures and we lost them all, dammit.
Quick thank you to Tieka at Selective Potential who included us in her adorable post called “The Guy Behind The Camera.” I love her blog and read it every day for her upbeat writing and happy stories of married life in Michigan. Go check out the post (and the 1st edition, too) for some other great blogs made possible by very supportive significants like Rob.
Oh, and it’s light at 5:12 PM! I feel like we’re slowly going to get our lives back with the extended daylight.
Happy Superbowling!

Love your sweater and necklace! It’s amazing how snow can be such a great backdrop for fashion photos!!
Thanks! It’s a good thing, seeing as how I have a few more months of dealing with it 😉 Love your blog! Your dedicated love of all things vintagey is so refreshing.
So glad you’re sport’n the Trunk Ltd. tee, I thought they were gone for awhile! Still have my Madonna one! Thanks for bringing it back to life!
On another note, Hoarders, it’s so disgusting & disturbing, but you just cannot look away! It’s like a car crash, you must look! My mom has been known to hold onto “things” herself. Last year we took 1 full day to clean out my old bedroom, and I made her get rid of so much junk! I constantly came across things, that I would say to her, “Why do you have this??” And she would say, “I don’t know, it may come in handy one day.” My response, “It won’t. It’s going in the trash!”
She has no goats chewing thru her walls, but she did come close to becoming the crazy cat lady on the block! Ha,ha! 😀
Hope your week is as good as your weekend was!
Ha Ha, I have the same T! Love Jim. My favorite. Beautiful skirt and sweater as well. Only you can make this work. I have been noting the increased daylight as well. Things are looking up!
No way, Robin… you do!? I need to find more but ebay seems to only have XS. Which is not… ideal for me. 😉
Beautiful skirt! It really does look like a thing you can wear with anything and everything and it will still look good.
Thank you! It’s pretty crazy, but so fun to wear. Very swishy 🙂
i love the mix of the chunky knit with the floaty skirt and snow boots. Def saved this outfit to my inspiration folder to help get myself (and my closet) through the rest of this winter!
Sweetness. Make those snow boots work, dude! I’ve found that a touch of impracticability has helped me survive. A lot. It’s sort of a nudge, like, “Ok, now how can I make this sort of a bad idea for snow?” and I end up loving it. 🙂
