The best of both worlds in one night: staying in and going out. Because going out means driving a few yards down the mountain and over a small hill to get beers at Johnny See Saw’s.
Act I. Staying in.
I was late coming back from Saratoga, where I went to do fun things like return the cable box, deposit checks, mail some things, visit the office for a few hours, and seek out the source a funkdified smell coming from our (empty?) home. Super. I was met at the door with a glass of wine andparked by the fire so I could unwind after an hour+ behind the high beams.
This was my first time “driving back” to Vermont, rather than just “driving over to” Vermont. If you can believe it, there is a difference. Every farmhouse, covered bridge, and shifty fence along the way was a happy sight.
[No doubt reading a text about Michael McDonald on my ghetto phone.]
Act II. Impromptu excursion for after-dinner drinks.

[Johnny See Saw’s.]
Found a couch and kicked back for awhile…

[Stopped to check the mail on the way home. This is a cold endeavor. I should get gloves.]
Getting used to things… one drink at a time, apparently!

that looks like such a great bar, i’m glad you guys are settling in! have you seen jessie’s blog? http://whathousework.typepad.com/what_housework/ it’s mostly about her cats, knitting, and she lives in an old farmhouse in vermont, they raise their own food, and her husband is a builder. i love heels with rubber soles, they are so much easier to walk in, those sam edelman booties are on sale at shopbop, i REALLY want a pair!
