First things first in case you need to hop on this before inventory dips on ya: Shopbop is having a pretty dope sale, as they are want to do—use code EVENT17 and get deals in the image above. It runs today through Friday, 4/14 at 11:59PM PST.
So typically I’d try and do some cool post about what to pack for a trip and lay it all out on the floor before I went on the trip, but as it stands I’m sitting on the grubby airport floor on my way back from that trip. I’m also still on the fence about whether or not I did a good packing job because I ran out of clothes with two days to go and only wanted to wear one shirt—the dopest of the dope black silk shirt from Mother that says “LOVER” across the back like a football jersey. I’ll post it soon in case I haven’t already sold you on it—just kind of hard to photograph when the coolest part is outside of mirror selfie range.
So, not that I typically need a reason to shop, I found one, sort of like how I always find things to shove in my mouth when I’m not hungry.

[Don’t murder me for the camisole that looks like it belongs on an American Doll; trust me, I have a plan. From left: Rag & Bone overalls, R13 sweatshirt, Golden Goose superstar sneaks, Rag & Bone denim skirt, MinkPink Camisole, $79.]
I’ve always found that trips shine a light on holes in your wardrobe, or make me want that one new thing to wear on the trip that will make it extra special. On this occasion, being a largely a work trip, I wanted to pack things that required me not to think at all in the morning when getting dressed for the office. Simple, chic, and confidence-boosting. This boiled down to jeans and silk button up shirts, sometimes layered over a visible silk camisole. And while I’m inclined to keep that train rolling, I realized it was spring and going to be hot soon, so I had to shift gears. Sales are usually epic times to do that—sorry, credit card.
Uhm you guys I can’t possibly conclude this post without telling you that I met one of my bestest most long-standing virtual blog friends IRL out there in California but I’m saving all the real goods for the actual travel post-y thing to follow. Anyway, she hopped out of the car after spotting us walking down the sidewalk and was like all glowing and adorable in overalls and I’m done, that’s it, gotta do it.
The above things feel like they’ll fit in with what I’m currently working with—and I still haven’t even gotten to do the whole trench over cutoffs bit! But I have been doing the following things, if you’re interested:
- Wearing visible and inexplicably neon sports bras.

[Free People Keep Me dress + awesome Calvin Klein sports bra (with matching undies).]
2. Wearing this white silk Equipment shirt all the time. All the time.

3. Posing semi-sensually in mirrors—KIDDING—wearing silk camisoles. I’ve hated and covered my arms my entire life but just recently decided things will probably never get better than they are right now, so why not let my biceps flap in the breeze a little? I got this Cami NYC one in navy and black I love it so much.

That’s all for now, I just saw someone walk by in pretzel-print leggings and need to go buy myself a drink to recover.
(I’m sure she’d make fun of my overalls, though.)
