Corks + Caftans

Putnam Wine’s got groove.

October 12, 2010 3 Comments

This was a cool moment that’s going to ensure my future attendance on trips to the wine store with Rob.

A Motown record softly crackling over a set of speakers is like coming home. So it’s strange we never noticed the modest but perfectly edited collection of vinyl hanging out next to all the right Oregon Pinots, California heavyweight Cabernets, and a solid sweep of only the most intriguing Syrah and Zinfandel picks at Putnam Wine. We sidled in… and we stayed for awhile.

Imagine sipping wine and browsing for wine, all while Al Green begs you to be good to him.

Pull The Jam and a Ridge Montebello at the same time—talk about greatest hits.

Our evening pick: Broadley Vineyards Pinot Noir, a beautiful Willamette Valley selection (and probably the only selection in this particular display for under $25) recommended to us by Aaron, an Oregonian cat who knows what’s up.

And here’s :30 of us poking around in the back listening to Al hit the high notes.

Get in there. Soak up the vibes.

Ha! yeah, this is probably a really pointless post, but I loved it anyway.

definitely not pointless!…in fact, i kind of want to go to a record store, buy a bunch of vinyls and drop them off at my wine store across the street. eh…on second thought, that’s probably not a great idea as i would then be there everyday….
