Good Friday: An evening with the Black Crowes.

October 16, 2010 8 Comments

We had a blow-out of a Friday. Not to be topped. Dinner at the bar at McGuire’s in Albany (post to follow; those fine folks know wine) and a knock-out, double-set Crowes show at the Palace.

[Fans.]

I bought that Amorica album—an original version, first printing—and used to carry it around in my backpack and show it off to friends at school. But not because of the pubes. I’ve always been naively controversial.

Some blurry post concert-beer shots of my new Daughters of the Revolution blouse [most appropriately named designer to wear to a Crowes show!]. Just got her on eBay for $9.99… price tags still attached for $250. Never, ever pay retail.

Shout out to 17 Chapel in the background, the new condo project under construction; I did all their copywriting. It’s an old Hudson dealership; psyched to see it in progress.

I have to give it up to the Palace Theater for hosting an incredible evening. It imposed no Gestapo-like security tactics, which has become the norm lately in the concert scene—or at least what I have come to expect at SPAC. You can just walk in, grab a brew without waiting on a bracelet line first, find your own seat without being weighed down by a semi-retired, gray-haired usher with a flashlight, take a few puffs on the lamb’s leg* if you so desire (without stirring up too much attention), and even loiter in the aisles for a closer look at the stage.

Quick vid of Chris—I learned all my dance moves from him.

Even with all of that, probably the best part of the night was getting to meet Pearl, and C+C reader and all-around cool chick who introduced herself to Rob in the beer line. It was awesome to meet you!!

*Not that we did, or do, but anyone with functioning olfactory senses would be aware this was occurring. Yay.
