Corks + Caftans

Sowing the seeds of love.

April 9, 2011 2 Comments

I’ve been toting around these catnip and lavender seeds I bought almost a year ago at Lowe’s. I was waiting on Rob to locate some tool, wandering around the aisles in sunglasses and stiletto heels, and found purpose in the spinning racks of seeds. Not that I’ve ever planted anything before. Nepeta cataria seemed like a good enough place to start.

Here’s Eli Escobar sampling the merch before it goes into the soil for the next 12-18 days. After pushing his snout into the paper pouch, he nodded in approval and said, “Great batch. Those Colombian nip farmers really know how to pack a punch,” and sauntered off to watch me work from the shadows. I sort of felt like all that was missing was an armed guard and a tiny scale.

In attempting to foster new hobbies, drug mule for my cat seems like a natural progression. I will report back post-germination, and of course be sure to capture some solid footage of Eli in the throes of his nip intake. I hear the fresh stuff makes your whiskers numb.

I have a little baggie of catnip cookie mix that I’ve never baked into kitty snacks! If you come visit we can bake it up!
