A simple formula works best for most instances. It’s an easy thing to forget, but boiling it down—boiling everything down—it works.
Shorts, a t-shirt, a bath robe-ish sort of mechanism… friends, a dock, a bottle of wine… you, him, the cat. Not into over-thinking everything so much anymore.
I’m a little burned out to be legit right now.
I can tell that I’m starting to creep back into my normal self after half a year of total (wonderful) mayhem. Primarily, as if diagnosing myself, I’ve noticed that I’m beginning to add tracks to my favorite playlists again with a frequency bordering on hourly. I haven’t been at those levels of focus and non-nail-chomping hysteria since 2011. [My normal is discovering music during the workday, sort of like celebrities gripping water bottles when they walk. Incidentally, I don’t really drink water.]
Speaking of simple formulas, yanking yourself out of a pit of exhaustion has to start somewhere. I like to nail it down with something partially novel. My friend’s dad has a really ironic roll of Lifesaver candies in a mug below on his sailboat—it’s kind of like that.
See you on the other side of these deadlines, peeps!
